Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

CPD ensures that a trainer maintains their knowledge and skills, as well as staying up-to-date, enabling them to deliver professional training with awareness of changing trends and directions.

Restraint Reduction Network Requirements

The Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) Training Standards state that the training provider must specify CPD requirements for all trainers who deliver their programmes. Although not all clients come under the RRN Training Standards we view this as best practice guidance

March 2020 to March 2021 recertification cycle

Throughout COVID-19 we have reduced the time that NAPPI Onsite trainers attend for face-to-face training. Each recertification course starts at 1.00pm therefore reducing the need for one overnight stay (for many).

To ensure that the full programme is covered, we have set two CPD requirements to be delivered on the Zoom platform. NAPPI uk has set the mandatory CPD requirements as two sessions annually, delivered by NAPPI Remote Delivery.

March 2020 to March 2021 CPD modules are:

CPD 1.  Human Rights

This module was new to the 2019 NAPPI programme and many trainers have not yet delivered it.  The session includes a presentation by a Senior Trainer followed by a discussion on how Human Rights are embedded throughout the full NAPPI programme.

CPD 2.  Types of Restraint & Restraint Reduction Planning

These modules were expanded in 2019 to meet the criteria of the Restraint Reduction Network Training Standards, and many trainers have not yet delivered them. The session includes a presentation by a Senior Trainer followed by a general discussion on the importance of completing Restraint Reduction Plans.

19 February 2021 1.00-2.30 and  3.00-4.30

22 March 2021 9.30-11.00 and 11.30-1.00

There is no charge for certified NAPPI trainers as this is covered within their certification fee. Bookings can be made by phoning or emailing:
