Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

The Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) Training Standards state that the training provider must specify CPD requirements for all trainers who deliver their programmes. CPD ensures that a trainer maintains their knowledge and skills, as well as staying up-to-date to enable them to deliver professional training with awareness of the changing trends and directions.

Although not all clients come under the RRN Training Standards we view this best practice guidance.

CPD Content

This session is designed to provide additional material to support the March 2023 to March 2024 trainer recertification programme.  The 90-minute session will be delivered by NAPPI Remote Delivery, to include the following topics:

Portfolio

Trainers are required to collect a portfolio of evidence that demonstrate they meet the requirements set by both NAPPI uk and the RRN Training Standards. Trainers are required to share this evidence, which must be kept by the training provider to ensure that quality, knowledge and skills are maintained.

We recognise that this creates additional workload for trainers, therefore NAPPI uk has a developed a solution.  To support trainers to meet their responsibilities under the standards, each trainer has a CPD Portfolio within their trainer account (see link to trainer account).

This section will automatically record recertification dates, peer assessments and completion of any CPD topics set by NAPPI uk. This meets the minimum CPD requirement and trainers can add additional CPD activity as they wish. Note: The Standards are very clear that where an employer makes stipulations that professional registration is maintained e.g. Nursing and Midwifery Council, then this remains the responsibility of the trainer (RRN, 4.3.5).
