Below is recent feedback received from our course participants. Participants were asked what things will they do differently in thier job as a result of the training:
This training course was fascinating, inspiring and incredibly useful. I am definitely going to use the information I have learnt to improve my working practice. I have a greater understanding of why challenging behaviour escalates.
I have learnt what can set off behaviours and how to work more safely for me and the residents. Yet again in the course today I've learnt how to keep people safe when using restraint. I've also learnt that not all tasks are essential all the time. I am going to work correctly if I have to use and RPI, now I understand it.
I have now a better understanding of SMART and will remember for the future. I am confident now in doing a grab release as I didnt know before. I'm very happy with everything I have learned. I will feel more confident in doing these actions.
It will help me do my job better and give me understanding of trigger factors. Give me confidence to do it safely and as a part of a team. To ensure I use the knowledge carefully and only if I have to.
I have learned about protecting ourselves by shielding and the meaning of SMART. Understanding about restraints that are appropriate with my workplace by sitting, standing and on the bed. Learnt about more of challenging behaviour, how to work safely with the residents.
The correct procedures to follow to best support residents in my care and to notice the behaviour signs earlier rather than later. Levels of resistance and types of restraint to giving the best care. Non invasive restraint in sitting and lying position knowledge gained, to help give best possible care.
To understand SMART and when and how to use the skills we have been trained. Today I feel I have learnt several types of restraints. I have learnt how to deal with challenging behaviour and how to work safely with the residents.
I have understood the difference between my previous training with MAPA and this training with NAPPI. I will implement into my working role. I enjoyed today's course I have learnt a lot regarding holds on a person and the dangers that can result in doing it wrong. I feel confident to apply the learning if needed, but how to avoid the use of it as well.
The learning is very good to help us with new skills and dealing with challenging behaviour by non abusive psychological and physical intervention. Enjoyed learning about keeping people safe during RPI. To use the knowledge correctly.
