Below is recent feedback received from our course participants. Participants were asked what things will they do differently in thier job as a result of the training:
Observe childrens behaviour more closely and be aware more of the low level behaviour to intervene more closely and sooner.
This course has made me think about the consistency in the approach of staff and the terminology to describe levels of behaviour. I intend to implement a new way of documenting and approaching the behaviours staff are presented with.
I will discuss with my home manager about changing the way we write reports/handover and the incident form reprinted/redirected to the five levels behaviour on Lalemand behaviour scale documentation activity workbook.
Will assess individuals and highlight the relevant areas that residents Amnesia is at and how to benefit the service user. Also help to personalise care plans and make the experience more enjoyable for the service user and reduce the challenging behaviour.
Apply different teaching methods. Ensure I dont miss participants who wish to contribute. My knowledge of dementia was basic. I feel that the awareness session has stimulated me to learn more. Thank you.
I found the red behaviour scale particularly useful. I can see fully how this may be used in a person centred way and feel that this would be a great benefit to support workers and the people we support. The SMART principles work really well. Taking on board all the elements of smart will work well in the workplace and perhaps change some peoples opinions.
We have risk management strategies that I will be amending for some individuals by using the green and red behaviour scales to help understand the communicated behaviour better. Also ensure peoples lives, particularly in the productivity areas, are fuller.
Work with the team once everyone has attended this training with specific emphasis on implementing the Lalemand behaviour scale for individuals.
Ensuring consistent approach and clarity following staff completion of training.
It has acted as a reminder of Abuse and how I can be vigilant.
Additionally I really liked the structure and pace of the day, the afternoon session really taught me how to knit the theory and delivery of training together.
I will be updating students behaviour management plans to reflect what I have learnt. Use the skills I have gained. Find out the structure and responsibility of staff in recording and analysing incidents and ABC charts.
The techniques shown and learnt in NAPPI 2 will be very beneficial for some of the students at the college. The course has been very interesting and well delivered. It will definitely be useful in the workplace.
