NAPPI New Year - resolution to revolution!

It's that time of year again - and the arrival of 2020 will spark the annual wave of self-improvement goals, from losing weight to getting fit.

But, as we all know, New Year's Resolutions are only worth doing if they last longer than January. And the same is true of training, says NAPPI uk senior trainer Les Ndlovu.

"Training is like a New Year's resolution. Everybody is excited and upbeat to start with, but without hard work and commitment afterwards it soon fades away."

And the key to success is making sure that commitment starts at the very top.

"Leadership and setting a positive culture play a really big part in making it a success." says Les.

"The better the culture, the less tolerant it is to any toxic and negative influences. I enjoy seeing people who feel they are part of a team, and are not just 'doing a job'."

The big football fan also the importance of teamwork when it comes to carer training.

The goal of life-long Manchester United fan is to show partner organisations the kind of "lightbulb moment" he once experienced.

"But, when I entered the care world as a support worker, I found it so much more rewarding; helping a person live their life," said Les.

Now, as a trainer, he enjoys showing companies how to care and train their staff in line with the NAPPI culture, which improves the life of staff as well as care and education service users and ensures a high-quality service.

Carers need the ability, boosted by training, to "smile, read people's moods and anticipate what they need."

When he is not orchestrating training at NAPPI uk he is often playing bass in a progressive rock band Extralife, performing their own music at Lakewood studios and in local pubs in his native East Midlands.
