NAPPI recognise 15 year partnership with Maesteilo

Maesteilo Care Home, part of Barchester Health Care, has been presented with a certificate to celebrate 15 years of working in partnership with NAPPI UK. Maesteilo is located in the beautiful countryside of South Wales and supports individuals with learning disabilities, autism and associated complex needs. The staff at Maesteilo use the NAPPI positive behaviour support model to successfully manage behaviours that might otherwise challenge. The ethos of the non-abusive NAPPI Principles is embedded throughout the organisation with an emphasis on proactive support.

The award was presented to Jackie Orrells, Regional Operations Manager, during a trainer recertification programme at the home in Worcestershire. Jacqui has a long association with NAPPI as she first attended training in 2004 and completing her trainer qualification last year. The award was presented by Andy Skinner, Director of Education and Training at NAPPI. Andy has made numerous trips to Maesteilo over the years. "I have had many memorable training sessions with groups of staff who are passionate about supporting their service users."

Assisting Andy in the delivery of the recertification programme was Barchester's Emma Holt, Training Manager and Assessor based in Gorse House in Sunderland. Emma is responsible for co-ordinating and auditing the in-house NAPPI training delivered by the 28 Barchester trainers. Emma has been using NAPPI skills herself since she was first training in 2006.

The strength of NAPPI-client relationships was noted by a BILD assessor during the recent successful reaccreditation when he commented about the "long-standing relationship with the organisations and that both the remarks and relationships are testimony to the organisation."
