Dementia Awareness Course Comments
Below is recent feedback received from our course participants. Participants were asked what things will they do differently in their job as a result of the training:
I will be able to pass on what I have learnt effectively.
I am going to go away and watch the Naomi Feill youtube video. But also I learned more about how to deal with family members properly and found that the course was very informative. The trainer could really help transform upstairs in my opinion working with us!
I've really enjoyed learning every aspect that was covered toady I feel my knowledge on dementia is a lot better but I think you can never learn enough about dementia, I feel I will use elements of cognitive decline. I feel I understand the reasons behind behaviour of dementia. Jay is very fab.
I will take from this training that I can support families and approach them in a good way,
I will also take from this training how dementia is and how we can improve our facilities in the home.
I took behaviours and what we do everyday.
I will be able to train the staff and make the training more personal to the residents in the home. It will have an impact on the way we write our care plans and have better outcomes for our residents.
The course has increased my knowledge which will enhance the care I give to people living with dementia. The course has equipped me the skills to deliver dementia awareness which will educate the work force and enhance working practice.
It will change it real good, at the moment we have a few residents with Dementia and I am the only staff member that is Dementia trained. Need to deliver this course to my staff, it will help us to run a safe, healthy, dignified working environment with better quality care.
Ability to learn to deliver training. Awareness of the elements of cognitive decline, applying this to practice and able to achieve and deliver positive outcomes to the person. How to avoid the red section and more green section.
Will assess individuals and highlight the relevant areas that residents Amnesia is at and how to benefit the service user. Also help to personalise care plans and make the experience more enjoyable for the service user and reduce the challenging behaviour.
Apply different teaching methods. Ensure I dont miss participants who wish to contribute. My knowledge of dementia was basic. I feel that the awareness session has stimulated me to learn more. Thank you.
I will start training staff in two months when two day services merge. Good time to share information and bond as a team. I will learn about people who use the service. I will also invite head of training to my training so that they understand.
Andy used a fantastic model (not for teaching purposes) to highlight and bring to life how best to help my clients and shows how easy it is to make a bad situation much better, I would encourage enablement more.
As one of the internal trainers in the organisation this training will enhance my knowledge of the care environment and therefore give me credibility with carers who do the job ( I have no formal care qualifications). I will rehearse the course in full before I deliver to a group.
