Dementia Awareness Training
There has never been a more important time for care staff to receive appropriate training to develop awareness of Dementia. Understanding how dementia can affect an individual’s behaviour will better equip staff to manage the challenging behaviour that is often linked to an individual’s cognitive decline.
A Dementia Awareness Trainer is able to deliver tailored sessions that address the specific challenges faced by an organisation, whether supporting the elderly or those with a learning disability.
NAPPI Dementia Awareness Training develops problem-solving skills that enable a more helpful response when managing the presenting behaviour. It forms the link between 'Primary and Secondary prevention strategies' that compliment established Challenging Behaviour training. However, if your organisation does not currently provide Challenging Behaviour training then NAPPI can develop a bespoke programme to meet that need.
Trained staff will be able to see beyond a diagnostic 'label' and provide effective strategies to manage behaviour that may become challenging, therefore reducing the need for reliance on a ‘chemical cosh’ or physical intervention.
